In 1994, with more than two decades of experience in the investment and banking industries, Thomas J. Bartholomew founded Bartholomew & Company, Inc. Tom’s unflagging commitment to his clients and his profession has not only earned him a loyal clientele among the Worcester-area’s affluent individuals but national recognition as well.

Thomas Bartholomew, AIF®

President

In 1994, with more than two decades of experience in the investment and banking industries, Thomas J. Bartholomew founded Bartholomew & Company. Today, Tom oversees the day-to-day operations of the company, supported by 13 Registered Representatives, five registered staff members, and eight additional support team members.

Prior to joining Commonwealth Financial Network® as an investment adviser representative in 1994, Tom was senior vice president and partner of A.F. Best Securities in Coral Springs, Florida. In 1981, while working at Worcester County National Bank (WCNB), Tom was responsible for all aspects of municipal banking, including business development and financial/fiscal advisory services. After WCNB was absorbed by Shawmut Bank, Tom went on to manage the entire municipal operation for several Massachusetts counties, and he created Shawmut's retail fixed income sales, brokerage, and underwriting operation for Central and Western Massachusetts. From 1977 to 1981, Tom was a licensed insurance and securities representative for New England Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Since 1994, Tom has been a member of Commonwealth's Leaders Club and was the recipient of Commonwealth's Special Service Award in 2000, which is given to the person who especially embodies the ideals of Commonwealth and best personifies the qualities of leadership.  Click here for a list of Tom's recent industry awards and recognitions.

Tom holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 51, 63, and 65 securities registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network. Tom has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professional designation from fi360 and has received formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility. He was educated at Assumption College, Williams College, and Rutgers University Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

Tom is very active in the community and serves in the following volunteer capacities:

  • The Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts—Community member, Investment Committee
  • UMass Medical School/UMass Memorial—Development Council member

In his free time, Tom enjoys playing golf, traveling, and cooking for family and friends. Tom and his wife, Lyn, reside in West Boylston, Massachusetts.

Alexander Bartholomew

Senior Vice President, CIO

Alex became senior vice president and chief investment officer of Bartholomew & Company in January 2018. Previously a vice president of the firm, he joined the company in 2009 as an analyst, following completion of graduate school.

Alex has been instrumental in assisting with investment analysis and portfolio construction that properly represents the firm's investment philosophy of emphasizing long-term, risk-adjusted returns. He has also been responsible for developing many of the internal software systems and infrastructure critical for the daily tasks of the investment management team. In his current position, he is responsible for the internal investment management team, working together to construct and manage portfolios that meet each client's objectives.

Alex attended Bryant University over a five-year period and received both his BA in liberal arts and his MBA in finance. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as a registered staff member with Commonwealth Financial Network®.

Brianna Benoit

Receptionist

Brianna joined the company in January 2014. As “director of first impressions,” Brianna greets callers and visitors to Bartholomew & Company in a friendly and courteous manner and maintains a pleasant and welcoming front-office environment. 

She supports the office in a variety of functions, including preparing client reports and correspondence, processing check deposits for client accounts, and assisting with special projects. Brianna maintains our office supply inventory and is helpful to everyone in keeping the office running smoothly. Brianna loves country music and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Kyle Cornell

Financial Analyst

Kyle joined Bartholomew & Company’s Investment Management team in June 2018.  His current duties as financial analyst include providing support to the team mainly in the areas of daily cash management, portfolio rebalancing, asset allocation recommendations, and ad hoc research and reporting.

Kyle holds FINRA Series 7 securities registration as a registered staff member with Commonwealth Financial Network.  He earned his BA in business administration from Bryant University in 2018, with a concentration in finance and a minor in mathematics. While at Bryant, Kyle was involved with a student-managed equity investment fund designed to develop professional experience in the investment management industry. His previous experience includes an investment management internship at Merrill Lynch. In his free time, Kyle enjoys going to the beach, fishing, exercising, and hanging out with friends and family.

Amanda Cozzolino

Marketing Assistant

Amanda joined Bartholomew & Company in 2008 as an administrative assistant/receptionist, greeting callers and visitors to the office and assisting our advisors with client and prospect meeting preparation.

In January 2014, Amanda joined the municipal team as marketing assistant, working closely with team members in assisting clients and responding to prospect inquiries. She prepares client reports and presentations and schedules clients’ quarterly and annual appointments with our municipal team. She maintains contact with municipal clients via monthly newsletters and periodic e-mail communications. Amanda is also responsible for the design and production of municipal prospect material. Additionally, she assists advisors as needed, processing trade logs and check deposits and answering the telephone.

Amanda is a licensed Zumba instructor, teaching three classes per week. She enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

James W. Cushman

VP Private Wealth Management, Director of Business Development

Jim joined Bartholomew & Company in April 2018, bringing with him more than 30 years of investment experience. He serves dual roles at the firm.

 

As a private wealth manager, Jim enjoys working with clients to help them make more informed decisions about their money and the growth and protection of their assets and estate. Jim is committed and passionate about taking a holistic, multi-generational approach to guiding his clients through their many life events.

 

As director of business development, Jim takes on the task of helping Bartholomew & Company grow and evolve the practice through several exciting and long-range initiatives.

 

Jim cut his teeth in the investment industry in 1988 as an internal product representative for a large wirehouse firm, Prudential-Bache Securities. From there, Jim moved on to a similar role at an independent broker/dealer, Cadaret, Grant.  It was here that Jim developed his admiration for the value a trusted financial advisor can provide to individuals and families.

 

In 1995, looking to broaden his investment background, Jim began a successful 23-year career as Regional Vice President for two well-respected money managers—first at Invesco and later at Legg Mason. He worked closely with independent advisors in the New England region and won many awards and accolades over the years. Now the cycle is complete as Jim returns to the world of independent financial advice.

 

Jim graduated in 1988 from Montclair State University in New Jersey with a BS in business administration. He holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations as an Investment Adviser Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®.

 

Jim and his wife, Kim, live in Northborough, Massachusetts. He enjoys traveling, spending time at home with friends and family, and watching his four teenage sons play sports.

Christopher Davies, AIF®

Vice President

Chris joined Bartholomew & Company in March 1998.  When Chris first started at the firm, he worked with Tom Bartholomew and senior advisors, as they mentored him on the intricacies and values of owning a diversified investment portfolio.

Today, Chris works closely with his clients to determine their risk tolerance with the goal of creating an investment portfolio that meets their needs within their comfort level.  Together with Bartholomew & Company's Investment Management team, he develops a financial plan to address each client's individual objectives.

Chris is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a BA in prelaw. He has his FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations and is a registered representative and investment adviser representative with Commonwealth Financial Network. Chris earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professional designation from Fiduciary360, receiving formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility.

Chris volunteers on the following boards and committees:

  • YMCA of Worcester-Greendale Family Branch, Chair of Board of Governors
  • Worcester County Food Bank, Treasurer, Member of Board of Directors and Finance Committee
  • Greater Worcester Community Foundation, Member of Scholarship Committee

He is a member of the Holden Towers Tennis Club, National Ski Patrol Alumni Association, and Petersham Curling Club.  In his free time, he enjoys tennis, golf, fishing, and "high adrenaline" adventures — most recently, skydiving, white water rafting, and zip lining.

Brian Foley

Vice President

Brian joined Bartholomew & Company in June 2009, bringing with him more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Brian has his FINRA Series 1, 7, 63, and 65 securities registrations as an investment company representative and general securities representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. He is also a licensed life and health insurance agent.

A graduate of Nichols College, Brian is currently on the school's College Advisory Board and is a former board member of the Holden Area Chamber of Commerce. He resides in Holden with his wife, Darlene, and their two children.

Kathleen Glowacki

Financial Analyst

Kathleen has been a member of our Investment Management team since June 2016. As a financial analyst, Kathleen’s responsibilities include investment analysis, portfolio management, performance monitoring, and economic research.

Kathleen holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as a registered staff member with Commonwealth Financial Network®. She previously served as an intern in Retirement Consulting at Commonwealth and as an intern for the Investment Management team at Bartholomew & Company. She is a 2016 graduate of the College of Wooster, Ohio, with a BA in economics and a minor in political science.  In her free time, Kathleen enjoys cooking, traveling, and exploring the new Woo! (Worcester)

Megan Granger

Chief Financial Officer

Megan joined Bartholomew & Company in September 2003, bringing with her 10 years of public accounting experience. Megan is our chief financial officer and is responsible for all internal accounting functions, including cash disbursements, commission calculations and reconciliations, monthly financial statements, and year-end tax planning.

Megan is a certified public accountant. She is a member of the AICPA and the Massachusetts Society of CPAs. She has a BA in accounting from Assumption College. Megan resides in West Boylston with her husband and two children.

Kay Holm

Office Services Assistant

Kay joined Bartholomew & Company in 2009 as a part-time office services assistant. In this role, she assists with a variety of duties, including preparing client review materials, maintaining office files and the client database, and providing general office assistance as needed. 

Prior to joining Bartholomew & Company, Kay worked for Fidelity Investments. She holds a BA from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. 

In her free time, she enjoys running, spending time with her husband and three children, and volunteering at her children’s school.

Dory Huard, RICP®, AIF®

Vice President

Dory joined Bartholomew & Company in 2005, bringing with her more than 30 years of municipal and finance experience. She served seven years as a vice president at Bank of America, where she was responsible for municipal client accounts, and has close to 30 years of experience as a town treasurer, collector, and assessor.

As a Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) designee, Dory assists clients in creating effective retirement income plans by determining savings requirements and calculating retirement projections to meet future needs. Using various scenarios, Dory helps clients to plan for unforeseen circumstances, minimize tax consequences, and consider social security claiming effects when creating their retirement income strategy. In addition, she is a certified life, health, variable, and long-term care insurance agent.

In February 2015, Dory was recognized in Boston magazine as a Five Star Wealth Manager based on criteria established by Five Star Professional that recognizes service professionals who provide quality services to their clients.*

Dory holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as a registered representative and investment adviser representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. She earned the RICP® designation from the American College of Financial Services and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professional designation from fi360 and has received formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility.

Dory graduated summa cum laude from Anna Maria College with a BS in business management with a concentration in finance. She is certified as both a Massachusetts municipal treasurer and collector and currently serves as an assessor for the Town of Paxton.

Brian R. Jamros

Vice President

Bartholomew & Company welcomed Brian in January 2016 as a member of our Municipal Services team, working to meet the needs of our municipal clients.

Brian’s nearly 20 years of experience in the banking industry include positions as assistant manager and assistant vice president/branch manager at Flagship Bank & Trust Company and more recently vice president/government banking sales manager and vice president/municipal sales manager, serving the Massachusetts market.

Brian holds a BS in business administration, management, and finance from Worcester State University and served as financial counseling director of Connect Community Church from 2008 to April 2017. He has a long history of volunteer and community involvement.

Brian is a resident of Sutton, Massachusetts. He enjoys golf, skiing, and snowboarding, and loves doing life with his wife, Lynn, and their children.

Hazel Kirrane

Executive Assistant to President

As executive assistant to the president, Hazel is the first point of contact for Tom's clients' service inquiries about their accounts. She is responsible for administrative duties including updating account information and processing checks and wire transfers. Hazel also prepares account performance reports for use during client portfolio reviews.

Hazel joined the company in 2004, bringing with her more than 10 years of client services experience. She holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as a registered sales assistant with Commonwealth Financial Network®.

In her free time, Hazel enjoys spending time gardening, going to the beach, and hiking with her children. In addition, she volunteers for Abby's House in Worcester, a homeless shelter for women and children.

Peter McManus, AIF®

Vice President

Peter joined Bartholomew & Company in June 2009 with 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Peter holds FINRA Series 7, 63, and 66 securities registrations as a general securities representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. He is also a licensed life insurance agent.

Peter is a member of the Town of Stow Finance Committee and has a long history of community involvement in nonprofit volunteering and fundraising. He is a graduate of Hobart College and resides in Stow, Massachusetts, with his two college-age sons.

Michelle Newcomb, AIF®

Vice President

Michelle joins Chuck and Dory on the Municipal Services team in meeting the needs of our municipal clients. She brings with her six years of municipal banking experience as a municipal calling officer and assistant vice president with Rockland Trust Company, where she worked with more than 150 municipal clients. Previously, Michelle held the position of executive assistant to the CFO of Rockland Trust, where she managed shareholder relations for four years.

Michelle is a member of the Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association (MCTA), Plymouth County Collector/Treasurer Association, Norfolk County Municipal Finance Officers Association, and Bristol County Collector/Treasurer Association. 

Michelle holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as a registered representative and investment adviser representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. She has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professional designation from Fiduciary360 and has formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility. Michelle holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana University.

Chuck Patterson, AIF®

Senior Vice President, COO

Chuck joined Bartholomew & Company in 2002 after nearly 20 years of public municipal service.

As the head of the Municipal department, Chuck is responsible for ensuring that all clients' fiduciary needs are being met as well as leading all municipal prospecting endeavors. Chuck assists our municipal clients with law interpretations and procedural policies as they relate to Massachusetts General Laws and Treasurer office operations.

During his 14-year tenure as the treasurer/collector for the Town of Shrewsbury, he had full responsibility for all cash management functions. He implemented the town's current investment policy and managed the town's $90 million in annual general operating receipts. He participated in numerous borrowings, culminating with the town's largest borrowing ever of over $62 million in 2001.

Chuck has also served as the treasurer of Tantasqua Regional School District in Sturbridge, a staff accountant for the City of Worcester Treasurer's office, and a municipal calling officer at Shawmut Bank.

Chuck's numerous professional associations include the Massachusetts Collectors and Treasurers Association (MCTA) and the Worcester County Treasurers/Collectors Association; he is a past president of both organizations. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Shrewsbury Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union. In addition, Chuck is the Chairman Protem/President for the First Congregational Church of Rutland, Massachusetts.

In 2015, Chuck was named senior vice president and chief operating officer for Bartholomew & Company. He holds the FINRA Series 7, 24, and 66 securities registrations as a registered representative and investment adviser representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. Chuck has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® professional designation from Fiduciary360 and has received formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility. He has certifications as both a treasurer and a collector from MCTA.

Joshua A. Paul, CFP®, AIF®

Senior Vice President

Prior to joining Bartholomew & Company in 1995 as a registered representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®, Joshua was employed by Bear Stearns Companies, Inc., and Cape Cod Bank & Trust Company (CCB&T). Joshua earned his FINRA Series 7 securities registration in 1994 while working at CCB&T before entering his senior year of college. Currently, Joshua holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 63, and 65 securities registrations and is an Investment Adviser Representative.

Joshua's approach to investment management is to construct planning solutions geared toward each client's specific needs and risk tolerance, reflecting Bartholomew & Company's core values. He reviews portfolios regularly and adjusts them as needed, carefully managing volatility to pursue consistent, long-term performance and to assure commitment to each client's goals and objectives.

Suzanne Pisinski

Marketing Associate

Suzanne joined Bartholomew & Company in 1996 as administrative assistant to Thomas Bartholomew, president, a position she held for 12 years before transitioning to her current role as a marketing associate.

Responsible for client and prospect communications, Suzanne coordinates the creation and distribution of company brochures, monthly newsletters, website updates, press releases, advertising, and public relations materials. She assists staff in writing and editing documents and works with Commonwealth Financial Network® to ensure that communications are compliant with industry regulations.

Suzanne has more than 25 years of administrative, sales, and marketing experience and holds an associate's degree from Vermont College of Norwich University. In her free time, she enjoys music, theater, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family. Suzanne serves on the scholarship committee for the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.

Regina Pranckevicius

Registered Assistant

Regina is the assistant to Brian Foley and Peter McManus. She is the first point of contact for their clients' service inquiries about their accounts.

Regina joined the company in 2009, bringing with her more than 20 years of securities-related experience with a major northeast regional bank's trust department and a national full-service brokerage firm. She holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations as a registered sales assistant with Commonwealth Financial Network®. Regina graduated from Fisher College with an associate's degree in business.

Michele A. Renaud-Ingel

Assistant to Joshua Paul/Office Manager

Michele joined the company in 1998, bringing with her more than 10 years of client services experience. 

As assistant to Joshua Paul, Michele assists clients with service inquiries regarding their accounts. She is responsible for all administrative duties, which include updating account information and processing checks and transfers.

In her free time, Michele enjoys walking, bicycling, vegetable and flower gardening, and animal- and birdwatching. Michele resides in Brookfield with her husband and three cats.

Ashley Riley

Registered Representative

Ashley joined Bartholomew & Company in 2015 as an assistant to Thomas Bartholomew, president. She became a registered assistant and now holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as a Registered Representative and Investment Adviser Representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. Ashley works closely with Tom to identify client and prospect needs and investment opportunities, prepare reports and proposals, and assist clients with their account service inquiries.

Prior to joining Bartholomew & Company, Ashley was a research technician at Massachusetts General Hospital. A 2010 graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts, she holds a BA in biology.

Terese Serra

Registered Assistant

Terri joined our team in October 2009, bringing with her more than 14 years of financial services, project management, and client support experience. Terri is responsible for providing day-to-day support to our municipal clients, including timely and accurate processing of financial transfers, wires, EFTs, and check services. She also provides broker administration support with setting up new accounts, making account changes, and creating monthly and quarterly accounting reports.

Terri holds FINRA Series 6, 26, and 63 securities registrations, and she is a graduate of Worcester State College with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Terri lives in Northboro with her husband and daughter.

Robert J. Harris

Senior Vice President

Robert (Bob) Harris is our municipal bond specialist. He graduated from Parsons College in Iowa. He holds his FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations and has been a registered representative since 1970. He started his career in Chicago with Channer Newman Securities at age 25 and was one of the youngest brokers at the time. In 1980, he pursued an opportunity to manage his own business, Crocke-Roberts, Inc., also located in Chicago.

Bob later moved to Cape Cod and worked for Dougherty, Dawkins, Strand & Yost until 1990. From 1990 to 1994, Bob was senior vice president with A.F. Best Securities, Inc., in Coral Springs, Florida. Bob joined Bartholomew & Company in 1994 as senior vice president.

Nancy Scott, RICP®, AIF®

Registered Representative

Nancy joined Bartholomew & Company in 2006 as a second career and now holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as a registered representative and investment adviser representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®.

As a graduate of the University of Georgia with a BS in education, Nancy was a middle and high school mathematics teacher until she changed careers. In her spare time, Nancy spends time with her family (usually outside), enjoys photography and baking, and is a member of her local regional school committee. She resides in Chatham with her husband and two children.

Marcia A. Sullivan, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Marcia Sullivan, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, has been working in the financial planning industry since 1993. She began her career as a retirement planning specialist working for The Horizon Group. In 1998, she joined College Funding Advisors and Alliance Financial Services.  It was there where she honed her specialized talents in helping families qualify for need-based financial aid and, once the children had graduated from college, she helped the families plan for their retirement.

Looking to offer those skills to a broader audience, Marcia joined forces with Bartholomew & Company in October 2018.

Marcia is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory of Music with a degree in classical guitar. She completed her studies with the College for Financial Planning in September of 1998 and received her CFP® certification that same year.  Marcia is a Registered Representative as well as an Investment Adviser Representative.  She holds her FINRA Series 6 and 63 securities registrations, and she is licensed to sell life insurance, annuities, and long-term care insurance.

When not meeting with clients or writing retirement plans, Marcia can be found playing with her two grandchildren, hiking with her dog (and husband), riding her horse, or making decadently delicious chocolates for friends and family.

Don Anderson

Financial Consultant

Don Anderson has been working in the financial services industry since 2001. He joined Alliance Financial Services and Commonwealth Financial Network® after having worked as a corporate systems manager for 35 years. It was there that he developed his specialized talents in helping families qualify for need-based financial aid and, once the children had graduated from college, helping families refocus their energies toward their retirement goals.

Looking to offer those skills to a broader audience, Don joined forces with Bartholomew and Company in October 2018.

Don received his BS in engineering from Northeastern University and his MBA in management from Syracuse University.  Don is a Registered Representative with Commonwealth and holds his FINRA Series 6 and 63 securities registrations. He is especially interested in college planning and making college affordable for all children and families and looks for any opportunity to help in the college planning process.  He lectures extensively throughout eastern Massachusetts on his experience and insights in the financial aid system and enjoys guiding families through the college financial process.

When not meeting with clients or lecturing on the financial aid system, Don can usually be found with his wife, children, grandchild or on a river cruise in Europe, satisfying long-term travel goals.
